The Sub-Micron Building, Weizman institute of Science
The Sub-Micron building is situated in the Physics Complex at the Weizmann Institute. It is designed to house the semi-conductor research facilities. The premises are designed as a box within a box. The research spaces, clean rooms, and laboratories are arranged as an internal structure, disconnected from the external one in order to comply with strict micro-pulsing requirements. The internal box is a three-layered structure: the laboratory level is sandwiched between an upper technical level for AC and HVAC and a lower one for MEP. A perimeter ring of research offices surrounds the box of clean rooms. The building is clad with pre-cast stone and concrete elements, creating a clean and simple appearance.
